Visual Arts

Central to our program is the belief that fluency in art is a way for students to know themselves more deeply while connecting with community and the larger world around them.
Students learn to master the skills and content associated with the elements and principles of art and design; this learning is supported by the contextualization of global art history and studio practice. Each student develops ideas by means of their individual creative process, through which they discover and utilize their authentic expressive voice. We believe that students learn best through tactile exploration with media and tools and that the study of visual art augments other academic study and interdisciplinary collaborations as students learn critical thinking, resilience, and creative expression.

Our Facilities:

The Visual Art Department uses four multi-media art studios for students in Pre-K through grade 12, and two additional 3D studios and hot room for clay and metalsmithing. Digital art classes, photography and film/video are taught in the Inspirations Commons and utilize the Digital Design Classroom and the Fabrication Studio.
